Latest Press release from Trend Micro reveals that 90% of targeted attack are using the spear Phishing attack.It says that 9 out of 10 hacking attempt happens using a very well crafted Phishing email.
The very first step of most of the targeted attacks is our email.The attacker craft a email which disguise as from a genuine source .These kind of emails will contain links which will expose the users to malicious website ,which drops malicious programs to the victim PC or to website where credentials are stolen.
Experts say that previously ,it was easy to identify phising emails because of it's bad grammar or even worst spelling.But nowadays the hackers have improved a lot so that it is very difficult to distinguish between a genuine and false email.
It is very unfortunate that emails are used to be the most easiest way for a hacker entry.Expert pointed out that lack of security awareness is the main cause of this kind of attacks .History shows that very big organization even some security organizations have fallen into hackers spear phising emails.Many of the organizations are aware of these kind of attacks but their lack of interest in training their employees about the basic security results in this kind of downfalls.
